Working with organisations which support people in contact with the criminal justice system
Our original name was The Society for the Discharge and Relief of Persons Imprisoned for Small Debts throughout England and Wales. In recent years, however, we have come to refer to ourselves simply by the date of our establishment, 1772.
Over the past twenty years 1772 has provided financial assistance to registered charities working for the welfare of prisoners and ex-prisoners and their families, homeless people, sex workers and people involved in alcohol and drug abuse.
We make donations between £1000 and £3000 for registered charities working in these areas.
